Call for Applications

January 18, 2010 – Kloshe Tillicum is pleased to announce this year’s Call for Applications for students in the Masters, PhD and post-Doctoral streams. Intended to support and increase the number of health professionals with Aboriginal health research skills, these Fellowships serve to recruit and improve access to Aboriginal health research training programs and promote and support health research careers.

Eligibility

Applicants must be either enrolled at a post-secondary institution in British Columbia, the Yukon or Northwest Territories or have a research supervisor who is affiliated with Kloshe Tillicum and situated in British Columbia, the Yukon or Northwest Territories.

  • Proposed research must be related to Aboriginal health and be of benefit to Aboriginal people of BC, Yukon or NWT. Conditions
  • Applicants agree to participate as presenters in at least one of Kloshe Tillicum’s research gatherings within 2 years of receipt of the grant.
  • Applicants agree to have their names, titles of their research and their final report published in Kloshe Tillicum public materials including but not limited to the website, newsletters, published materials, gatherings and other such fora.
  • The applicant agrees, where appropriate, to link with an aboriginal community or agency to share research methodologies and/or findings.

Types of Health Research Fellowships Kloshe Tillicum offers one-year fellowships. Please note that the number of awards is dependent on renewal of funding.

  1. Theme Fellowships: Traditional Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Population Health, Research Ethics;
  2. Master’s Student – Health Research Fellowships;
  3. PhD Student – Health Research Fellowships;
  4. Post Doctoral Fellowship.
  • KLOSHE TILLICUM Aboriginal Health Research Fellowships are funded by Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Aboriginal Peoples’ Health (CIHR-IAPH), therefore all CIHR-IAPH guidelines for CIHR-IAPH apply. As per the CIHR funding allocation, these fellowships are for student support only and are not intended for operational funding.
