Kloshe Tillicum is one of 9 Aboriginal health research centres in Canada. Formerly called NEAHRBCWAY (Network Environments for Aboriginal Health Research in BC, the Western Arctic and Yukon), it evolved from the first set of CIHR – Institute of Aboriginal Peoples’ Health (lAPH) initiatives: Aboriginal Capacity and Developmental Research Environments (ACADRE) centres. The intention was to build aboriginal capacity in health research by linking the academics, students and communities that were conducting aboriginal research. By developing such a network, these researchers could share their findings, collaborate on projects and encourage new health research from aboriginal students and communities themselves.
